Welcome to Brucourt

The village is situated right in the heart of Normandy, in the Calvados region, and the diocese of Bayeux-Lisieux. From the house, solidly implanted on a hill in the Auge district, on one side one can see the sea a few miles distant, and on the other side, as far as the eye can see, the green countryside brilliantly golden in the setting sun.

The convent can be reached only after a rough climb of six hundred metres by  a track bordered by meadows and woods. The panoramic view before one is magnificent! It is the source of inspiration, contemplation, prayer and is restful for the whole being.

Founded in 1975 by six nuns sent from Thiais, the Convent actually comprises nine nuns. In accordance with the wishes of their foundress the sisters “live by the work of their hands”. Punctual secretarial work and handling and storage work. “Work accomplished in the humble attitude of Jesus and Mary takes on the value of contemplation”.

One part of the Convent is set aside for the monastic welcome; priority for those on retreat or for people seeking the spiritual life. A Norman house in the convent grounds is available, for short periods, for those who want to join in with community prayer and to benefit from the calm and silence of this spot.

A new chapel was added in 1999 to answer more fully the needs of those who wish to share our prayer.
